At
Hospice of Lansing and Ionia Area Hospice, we help patients of all ages make
the most of the time remaining to them. Our interdisciplinary teams
—including physicians, nurses, nurse aides, social workers, spiritual
coordinators, bereavement coordinators, and volunteers— manage all
aspects of a patient’s care. We excel in keeping patients comfortable. We
ease pain and other symptoms, while helping patients live as fully as possible.
We also assist patients with their personal care, whether in their own home,
other care facilities, or in our Stoneleigh Residence. Hospice of
We
are proud that many of our staff are nationally board-certified in hospice and
palliative care. The nurses and nurse aides who are board certified have passed
examinations by the National Board for certification of hospice and palliative
nurses. This is the highest distinction a hospice nurse or nurse aide can
achieve. This means our staff is committed to professional growth and
knowledgeable in the most current and up-to-date methods of hospice care.
We
are a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to do what is right for patients
and their families. We are experts in end-of-life care, and it is the only
thing we do. Our entire focus is on providing the best hospice care. As a
nonprofit hospice, we are also uniquely committed to serve our community. We
are able to provide charitable care to patients who have limited or no ability
to pay. We also work with Medicare, Medicaid and private insurers in order to
make our care as accessible as possible.
We
are independent, not affiliated with any other organization. Rather, we work in
partnership with our local hospitals and many health insurance plans to ensure
that patients receive the care they need.
As
We
also believe in reaching out to educate the community on end-of-life issues. We
have a speakers' bureau to address groups and organizations in the community,
and we are involved in a variety of other outreach activities.
